Circa 1865
France Provence
Amazing casaquin with basques and pagoda sleeves in the 18th century taste but dating from the Second Empire, piece collected in Marseille. Very fine cotton chintz printed with floral stems where roses predominate in a strong polychromy of colours. High-waisted cut with large neckline, V-shaped back stapled on the front and white linen lining with four whalebones and an inner belt. Long basques with air fart in the back, notched in the front, decorated with falbalas sewn in hollow pleats, with a reminder on the three-quarter length sleeves with large pagodas. Some very discreet yellowish halos, the only flaw to be noted (no hole). Good condition in terms of colour and conservation.
