Ottoman Empire
A long Indigo woven cotton and silk kaftan or house coat with Bayadère decoration. Amazing glaze of this Gros de Tours type weave varying from indigo to violet and pastel. Crossed in front with a lining in indigo and cream woven cotton, this dress reminds us of 18th century Banyans by its preciousness and its egg white glaze reminding us of the first Indians dating from the Prohibition period under Louis XIV. A casual “Object” to wear in the evening or for entertaining at home. Personal collection collected in Bursa in the 1990s. No defects. Very good condition in colour and conservation.
Dimensions: Slim size in 38/40 women or 52 men. Shoulders 43 cm, sleeves 65 cm, height 120 cm, chest 100 cm.
