Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (1867-1946) was a great French couturier. She founded the Parisian haute couture house that bears her name, Maison Lanvin, at the end of the 19th century. Today, although no longer a haute couture house, it is the oldest still in operation. Jeanne Lanvin was a great fan of colour, and her favourite colours were Lanvin blue, Polignac pink (a tribute to her daughter) and Velasquez green, all of which are classics of the house. To preserve the exclusivity of her colours, she founded her own dyeing workshops in Nanterre in 1923. In 1909, the House of Lanvin, now a member of the elite, became a member of the Chambre syndicale de la Haute Couture française.
