Russia (?) or Europe
Rare long paisley shawl in silk woven on Jacquard looms of an extreme fineness of weaving . Large central reserve added on original in cream silk twill. Borders and ends sewn in floral Boteh design of a strong polychromy on black brown taffeta background. Very clever technique of double chain of weaving revealing the black background only on the front! Black silk fringes with fine knotted cords. Europeans in their shawl production replace Indian abstraction with imaginary or realistic floral motifs. Very light and little visible yellowing of the cream reserve. No holes or dirt. Very good condition of color and conservation. Rare piece wearable today or for decoration.
