Large three-piece livery, suit, waistcoat and breeches signed by the famous Belgian princely family Caraman-Chimay. This illustrious family’s most famous muse is the Comtesse Greffulhe. Tailcoat in navy blue woollen cloth, complete with brass buttons bearing the family’s crown. Grey silk lining bearing the signature of the Max Alexandre couture house, 27 Rue Belliard, Brussels, as well as a handwritten bolduc indicating Caraman-Chimay. Waistcoat and breeches in gold-yellow woollen cloth with superb silver braid and silver tassels at the bottom of the breeches. Waistcoat complete with crown buttons and red percale back. Cotton lined breeches. Four to five needle marks on the front of the waistcoat, the only flaw to note. Exceptionally good condition for this period.
Dimensions: Equivalent to French size 52. Suit: shoulders 46 cm, sleeves 65 cm, back height 107 cm, chest 115 cm. Waistcoat: height 63 cm, shoulders 44 cm, chest 107 cm, waist 93 cm. Breeches: waist 93 cm, height 85 cm, hips 105 cm.
