Beautiful woodblock printed cotton shawl with a buff brown background, probably from an unidentified Alsatian manufacture and dating from the end of the First Empire or Restoration period. Eight-colour printing on a fine, tightly woven cotton. Galleries with large stylized flowering boteh palms, flowers and daisies. Two spandrels in the opposite corners allowing the shawl to be worn as a point. The four sides are finely hemmed and hand-rolled in the period. Large Indian shawls are rare. A slight whitish trace of 6 cm, easily cleaned, otherwise no defects. Very good condition of colour and conservation.
Size: 152 cm x 144 cm.
