England
Beautiful squared Fold-over shawl with reserve in raspberry fuschia silk twill, a speciality of the Norwich manufactory and dating from the very early Victorian era. The borders are sewn in reverse on the diagonal, allowing the two points to be turned right side out. The borders are woven on a loom with palm, boteh, architectural and ‘bizarre’ designs. Very tightly woven shawl in seven colours: white, vermilion, navy, sky blue, green, yellow and caramel. Fringes sewn in silk fray to match the central reserve on all four sides. Note a period repair to one edge, but no holes, moth holes or stains. Exceptional condition in terms of colour and conservation.
