Adorned ( homme paré) man’s silk frockcoat dating from the French Revolution period. Yellow-green silk taffeta with pink shading (green warp and pink weft). Frac arched with false buttonhole facings embroidered with cannetilles, sequins and shimmering mika drawing cords with flowery pompoms. Fitted cut with long, low-cut basques, angled sleeves with lapels and buttoned cuffs, high collar turned up and turned down to a point at the nape of the neck. Complete with matching buttons and three front buttonholes. Large taffeta-lined side pockets with flaps. Original, unmodified lining in cream taffeta (which is unusual). Taffeta is clean and undamaged, apart from a few micro stains and a few missing sequins. Good colour and condition for this period. Collector’s item.
Dimensions: Equivalent to a slim 14-16 year old male. Mannequined on 36 french. Height 111 cm. Shoulders 32 cm, sleeves 60 cm, chest 93 cm, waist 82 cm, hips 108 cm, collar height 10 cm.
