A French Embroidered Velvet Court Habit and Waistcoat Circa 1780

Sumptuous miniature velvet suit and waistcoat, densely embroidered in pastel stitch, velvet appliqué and painted canetilles dating from the last quarter of the 18th century! Suit complete with 24 buttons and three buttonholes, flap pockets, angled sleeves with flapped cuffs. Coordinated waistcoat complete with 11 buttons, unbleached woollen cloth back (moth holes) and cream satin lining. The embroidery of pansies, roses and grasses is remarkable for the tassels in painted velvet. Some traces of rust on the velvet and lining lacunar in the back and shoulders loaded with horsehair. Good structural condition of the velvet and embroidery. Remarkable museum collection piece.

Dimensions: Equivalent size 12-14 years today. Only collectible or wearable by a woman of 3-4 US size.
