Vintage Design
Elegant, early Biedermeier Secretaire / Secretary desk from South Germany around 1820. Beautiful classicist design with gable cornice, greatly restored and of very fine quality. Blonde cherry veneer on hard and softwood (oak, maple, spruce or other softwood). Book-matched veneered with several ebonized (back polished) parts. Fully restored condition with shellac hand polish (French polish). Original brass fittings. Original key and iron locks. Inside with numerous drawers and secret compartments (see images), mostly veneered in cherry wood, too. At the bottom the secretaire has 2 doors and an open space behind with an shelfboard and long massive iron lock. Fold down writing plate in cherry wood with ebonized decorative trims.
