stunning original and restored Georgian English pedestal desk in oak with a hand dyed brown leather writing surface, circa 1800 A very well made and traditional English partners pedestal desk. The timber is all oak which has a wonderful period patination, the top, an early brown leather with nice tooling. The drawers are all very deep and slightly oversized, this was most likely a clerk’s desk The piece has been fully restored to include being washed right back, the timber has all been left to the original colour, then French polished, the leather top has equally been washed back and hand dyed this wonderful rich cigar brown colour, it has various “defects” in the sense that there is patina throughout the leather, I have intentionally left these all in as they show the age of the piece and its honest character Dimensions Height:- 76cm Width:- 114cm Depth:- 75.5cm Legroom Height:- 58.5cm Width:- 42cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
