Vintage Design
A fully restored circa 1860 Show framed Chesterfield tufted hand dyed brown leather library reading chair. This chair is really quite exquisite, it’s what’s called a show frame, cabinet makers would craft ornately decorated chairs like this to take to exhibitions, the idea being they were so beautiful they would capture the attention of passing customers who would then commission pieces to be made with elements of this design. The frame is solid mahogany, the leather lovely thick English hide, the chair is finished with the original porcelain castors. The chair has been fully restored to include having the leather washed back, it’s then been hand dyed six times, antiqued and sealed, the mahogany frame has been stripped back and French polished from the ground up. Dimensions Height:- 99cm, seat height 39cm Width:- 70cm Depth:- 94cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
