Elegant French Victorian waistcoat in brocaded velvet – France Circa 1860

Elegant Second Empire waistcoat in black velvet embroidered with purple and green flowers and yellow dots. Shawl collar, cross-over fastening with eight embroidered buttons (one button missing). Original brown glazed cotton twill back and light brown cotton chintz lining (stains and oxidation). Two side pockets and buckle fastening at back. Note an invisible repair to the chest and a slight patina to the velvet. Good overall condition and colour. Wearable today.

Dimensions: Equivalent to men’s size 48-50. height in front 50 cm, waist 84 cm, shoulders 40 cm, chest 97 cm.
